Simultaneous interpreting is the most demanding discipline in professional language work. While the speaker is still talking, the interpreter is already rendering their words into the target language — processing, translating and speaking at the same time, with only a few seconds' delay. There is no pause, no room for hesitation, and no margin for error. It is what makes large international conferences possible.

Three formats of simultaneous interpreting
Simultaneous interpreting takes different forms depending on where your event is held and how many people need language support. All three rely on the same core skill — real-time interpretation — delivered by the same calibre of professional.
Conference simultaneous interpreting
The standard format for international conferences, forums and roundtables. Interpreters work from soundproofed booths, following the proceedings in real time and delivering the interpretation through wireless headsets to participants in the room. Working in pairs and rotating every 20–30 minutes, they maintain consistent quality throughout even the longest sessions.
Remote simultaneous interpreting (RSI)
For online and hybrid events, our interpreters work from a professional interpreting hub, connecting to your platform of choice — Zoom, Webex, Teams or dedicated RSI platforms. To ensure everything runs without a hitch, Aion provides a Digital Stage Manager (DSM): a technical specialist who manages the platform, supports the moderator, coordinates participants, and keeps audio and video quality at the level your event deserves.
Chuchotage (whispered interpreting)
When only one person or a very small group needs interpreting during an event, the interpreter sits directly beside the listener and quietly renders the proceedings in real time — without booths, without headsets, without disrupting anyone else in the room. Discreet, immediate and remarkably effective for the right situations.
Preparation is half the work
The quality of simultaneous interpreting depends as much on preparation as on talent. Before every assignment, Aion's interpreters study the relevant regulations, master the specific terminology, and build glossaries tailored to your event. The more context they have in advance, the more precise and fluent the result.
Sharing presentation materials, speaker notes or thematic documents ahead of the event makes a measurable difference to the quality of interpretation. Our team will always ask — but the earlier the better.
